Freedom Focus Female - Trauma processing course for women
On January 24, Stichting Geloofsinburgering presented the Freedom Focus Female course, a course on trauma processing, especially for women with a migration background.
Corina Mushikangondo was present in Gouda on 24 January at the presentation of Freedom Focus Female, a trauma processing course for women with a migration background.
Corina: “In ICF Rotterdam we deal a lot with migrants with a trauma. Trauma from violence, sexual abuse, neglect, rejection, poverty, etc. For some time now I have been thinking what we as a church could do for these people. Yesterday I took a step further: I was introduced to Freedom Focus, an intercultural 'course' on healing from trauma. It fills the gap between psychotherapy and pastoral assistance. Christian themes are discussed, such as forgiveness, identity in Christ and spiritual warfare. And it deals with psychological themes such as emotions, dealing with grief and the impact of abuse. I think it's great that the creators combine both perspectives and I think there's great added value in that! And there is also a healing effect in groups. Processing the pain together with other experience experts reduces isolation and creates connection. I will certainly investigate whether we can roll out this course in Rotterdam!”
